User Interface Designer

Job Description

As a key member of the product management team, the UI Designer is responsible for turning ideas into workable, usable, efficient interfaces, to be delivered to the development team as wireframes and html documents. Interfaces – for websites, mobile platforms, kiosks, and key applications – need to reintroduce the world to the concept of travel by train, updated behind the scenes with modern technology to support shopping and booking paradigms. Our goal is to build the most compelling user experience possible for the shopping, purchase and fulfillment of train travel.

Responsibilities

•    Work with product managers, business partners, customers and suppliers to define interaction paradigms and work-flows for various transactions

•    Design usable and efficient user interfaces for various delivery mediums

•    Work with graphic artists (in-house and out-sourced) to develop visual/graphic components for Wandrian systems

•    Build fully-realized html-based prototype interfaces to be delivered to the development team for implementation

•    Where necessary, setup, manage and conduct usability testing for interface designs

Requirements

Qualifications

•    Thorough understanding of Information Architecture and Interaction Design

•    Experience building usable, and testing usability of, interfaces

•    Competence with HTML and HTML authoring tools; CSS & JavaScript/AJAX knowledge a benefit

•    Familiarity with travel related websites and other e-commerce websites

•    Basic graphic design skills and working knowledge of tools such as Adobe Photoshop or equivalent

•    Self-motivated, able to work independently and perform multiple tasks under minimal supervision 

•    Confidence to participate and contribute within a fast-paced, technically aggressive, highly skilled and collegial development team
